Joining Bellevue Chamber

Our membership is constantly increasing. The benefits are very popular among our members and attractive to potential members. Keep current with what is going on in Bellevue and be more involved in community events by joining The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce. Our membership dues are very affordable and our benefits are exceptional.

I want to express my thanks for all the encouragment and support that I've received during the last year. When I started 2009 as the president-elect of the Chamber, I looked forward to a year of 'learning the ropes' prior to assuming a higher leadership post. While the timing changed and I became Presdient in early January, there was tremendous assistance offered to me at ever turn. First, the circle of "past-Presidents" including Bob Allen, Todd Officer, Suzanne Greer, and Bill Robertson were a BIG help during difficult periods. I leaned upon them heavily--any wisdom I might have exhibited has much more to do with their counsel than my insight.Second, in place when I came aboard were committee heads who REALLY stepped up. Singling any out may be dangerous, but Lee Cannon, Susan Hufford, and Jennie Bradley were especially invaluable aids. Any success we had this year was due to the hard work of our committee chairs. We ALL owe them an enormous debt of gratitude! Third, when there was a gap in servicing the activities at the Chamber office, Cindy Bond and Anita Rich excelled mightily in filling in. They developed new procedures, launched a thorough clean-up of the office space, and kept things moving along during a difficult three month period.

As we look toward 2010, I am thrilled by the direction that has been charted. Sheri Weiner is off to a FAST START to make next year our best year. Many new committee chairs are joining some of the best from last year to make a dynamic group that I will be proud to serve alongside. Anticipate nothing less than new, better, greater next year!

For those of you wondering about the value of your membership in the midst of a slowly recovering economy, let me make a final observation. Not since the earliest days in the late 70s has there been a better time to join the Bellevue Chamber! For years, the complaint I heard when I told people I was in the Chamber went like this: "It is just a 'closed, good ole' boys' network" New leadership, new programs, new directions.... NOW is the time to join together to make the Chamber--and the community that it so ably represents--the BEST!"

Bellevue Goes Green

Bellevue residents have a second option, curbside pickup, to participate in the Davidson county recycling program. There may be some things you are not aware of regarding the current recycling option of using the recycle center on Highway 70S at Interstate 40 (entrance on Coley Davis Road). The Bellevue Recycling Center produces the second highest volume of recycled materials of any center in Davidson county. Volunteers with the Fifty Forward J. L. Turner Center assist the Metro Public Works Department in maintenance of the Bellevue Recycle Center. For their assistance, the Bellevue Transportation Project receives a portion of the funds recovered by Metro Public Works from the sale of these recycled materials. So, recycling is not only the right thing to do it; also provides resources for the community.
